Who we are

Get HooK’d Academy is a collaborative effort to teach kids the art of fishing. Our mentors and guest speakers will lead the next generation to be confident anglers, competent stewards, and upstanding citizens.

Twelve students will participate in structured lessons, guided discussions, and hands-on workshops. Topics include: Fishing, Safety, Stewardship and Conservation, Preparing and Maintaining Equipment, Rigging, Live Bait, Tactics and Techniques, and Sportsmanship. Presenters from the USCG, NOAA, FWC, Okaloosa EMS, CCA Florida, and local Charter Captains will pour into the students over the four-week semester.

Students learn the art of fishing over four Mondays–three-hours each day, for a one-time $200 tuition.

The final Monday of each class, L.J. Schooners will host a Get HooK’d tournament followed by awards, graduation, and dinner. Teams of two students and their Captains will board boats for 90 minutes, employ the tactics, techniques, and equipment they received over the semester. Prizes for first, second, and third place will be presented by our sponsors.
